Medical Causes Of Hair Loss In Children
Tinea Capitis
Tinea capitis, a fungal infection commonly seen in children. It can be displayed in a number of ways, but often scaly patches of hair loss on the head. The patches are usually round or oval. The hair can be cut off at the surface of the skin and look like black dots on the scalp.Because ringworm is contagious, your child should be careful not objects to touch the head, such as hats, pillowcases, sharing clippers, or brushes.

Alopecia Areata
Alopecia areata is a non-infectious state of hair loss thought to be caused by the immune system of the body of the hair follicles attacks. It is characterized by the sudden appearance of round or oval patches of hair loss. The patches are slick or smooth, without scaling or broken hairs. About 25% of children also have pitting and ridging of the nails.

Trichotillomania
Trichotillomania is hair loss caused by pulling the child, picking, twisting, or rubbing his or her hair. The hair loss is patchy and characterized by broken hairs of different lengths. Patches are usually seen on the side of dominant hand of the child.
